Selling your New and Nearly New high quality fashion and accessories is straightforward but items are booked in strictly by appointment only. We take a maximum of 10 items at any one time on Tuesday - Friday. On Mondays and Saturdays the maximum number is 5.

Please call us to discuss what you would like to bring in and to book an appointment. Please note, due to the number of clients we have it's advisable to book your appointment early to avoid disappointment.


Using Lanes Dress Agency to recycle unwanted Designer fashion and accessories is lucrative for all our regular clients. When preparing your items to bring to your appointment here are a few tips to make the most of your collection:

Items that are brand new with original labels and price tags often sell quickly.

We do not accept damaged or stained goods. Our customers only buy items that are clean and in excellent to very good condition. Check for any issues such as missing buttons, lose beads or details. Make sure nothing is left in pockets of clothing or handbags. Always double check your garments before you leave the dry cleaners. Several clients recently have noticed deodorant/other marks have not been removed by cleaning due to different/weaker chemicals.

Although we will discuss the pricing of your individual item with you at your appointment a very general rule of thumb we use is: Brand new with tags priced at c.50% of its original cost (unless current high street sales are prevelent.) Nearly new at approx. a third of its original price. This is not always the case but can be considered as a rough guide when weighing up the cost of cleaning a nearly new item for example.

As a general guideline we do not take in many mainstream high street brands including: M&S, New Look, Next, Primark etc; Any Supermarket or low budget brands. Although a few customers like vintage pieces we avoid garments that may be considered 'out of date' or not collectable at the current time. We take in all clothing and accessories on a strictly seasonal basis.

For expensive items, particularly designer handbags, provenence including original receipts will improve the value and can help with a faster sale.

Before we accept any items from you, you will be asked to read, confirm that you understand and sign the following terms and conditions.  

  1. We act as your agent, selling clothes/shoes and accessories on your behalf.
  2. At your appointment we will evaluate your items and advise which we think have a good chance of selling.  If however, in the unlikely event that items have been left without an appointment and we accept them, we reserve the right to price in accordance with our own judgement.
  3. Once we have decided which items to take into stock you will be given a detailed list of items offered for sale showing the stock number, description of the item, the amount you will receive for the item if sold and the six week date for collection of unsold items and/or to collect money owed.
  4. Commission structure: You receive 40% of the sale price.
  5. All goods must be received 'ready to sell' in a GOOD AND CLEAN condition and either freshly laundered or dry cleaned.
  6. All Goods are left ENTIRELY at the clients own Risk.
  7. Any uncollected monies (commission due) are held for six months only.
  8. We reserve the right to reject any items at any time that we think we shall be unable to sell or are found to be damaged.
  9. We reserve the right to reduce an item if we think by doing so that item can be sold.
  10. Items will be kept on display for SIX WEEKS ONLY. After this time if they have not been sold and arrangements have not been made for collection the items will be donated to a charity of our choice.
  11. All money due to clients for goods sold is paid once the six week date has expired. Payment is made by cheque.
  12. Due to our large number of (ever increasing) clients it is impossible for us to make any telephone contact with you.  It is entirely your responsibility to keep in touch with us by telephone or in person if you want to know how your items are selling. We do not call or otherwise remind clients of their due date for collection of unsold items/and/or monies owed.

Please Note: Any items not collected by clients after their due date will be donated to charity.
